"Au sujet de notre offre d'hébergement :"

Take a trip back to the Paris of the 17th century. This rare apartment is located in what was long thought to be the oldest building in Paris (dating from 1300). It has since been discovered that the oldest is actually located on rue Montmorency, not far away, and that our building actually dates back to "only" 1644. Still, it features authentic old wooden beams both in the ceiling and the walls and definitely has a medieval feel to it.

Located at the intersection of a pedestrian street and a narrow one-way street, the 1 bedroom apartment will allow you to experience the lively Marais without the noise of traffic. Within the Marais district, which offers you the best of Paris in terms of restaurants and shops, this particular neighborhood is one of Paris' mini Chinatowns. On the neighboring rue au Maire there are several Chinese markets and eateries, that happen to the most popular in Paris for authentic popular Chinese cuisine. Of course, if you prefer French, you have a wealth of choices as you walk through the Marais.

The apartment offers one bedroom with a double bed, but the living room also offers two futons that can be used as single beds. Ideal for a couple with children.

From the apartment, you can easily walk to the centre Pompidou, the Place des Vosges, the Seine, the Picasso museum. The Arts et Métiers metro station (line 3, 11) is just across the street and will take you to all Paris monuments within in 15-20min.

Appréciations

Hello Everyone,

We are a young couple with 2 kids, traveling a lot and willing to stay in well located (to feel what that specific city has to say), decent, clean and reasonably expensive houses, ruled by non-intrusive landlords and placed into safe neighborhoods, or downtown.

This house is a wonderful place to stay (for 2 people more than comfortable, 3 people comfortable, 4 people well enough). The pictures on the website offer less than the reality, which is quite unusual. It has 2 separate rooms (one bedroom with a kingsize bed and one living room with two one-person beds) one large kitchen which entrance is from the living room (but it is a closed kitchen), one bathroom and a separate toilette, which entrance is made from a corridor at the end of the bedroom. Both rooms have large windows (don't laugh, it is not unusual for Paris to have rooms with no windows, but only a skylight), while the bathroom and the kitchen has their window to the common inner ventilation system of the building (practically imagine a tiny inner court).

Great location (5 minutes walking distance to Beaubourg/Centre Pompidou, 15 minutes to Notre-Dame de Paris). You may also take the metro which is right next to the corner. Chinese Restaurants, small nice bar and one disco nearby as well as a great laundromat (but you also have a washing machine in the house). Do not miss the great brunch on Sunday at Musée des arts et métiers (great value for the money), which is located within 2 minutes walking distance. Also you may want to purchase your food from the organic market near the corner or from the regular Carrefour supermarket located also at the other corner of the street.

Yes, it is a chinese restaurant at the ground floor, right under the apartment, but there is no smell into the house (please note we were staying in this apartment for one week in July) and the owners of the restaurant are quite nice people.

The house is great and well equipped with all you may need in the kitchen (actually no one needs as much as they offer) including a dishwasher.

The lady of the house is a nice person, who will not invade your intimacy, but will be willing to help you if her help is required via phone.

We will definitely stay in this house next time we are in Paris and I have recommended it to all our friends.

Best,
Diana and Nicolas

Le Marais

Whether you enjoy losing yourself in long medeival streets, admiring art and architecture of across the centuries, or discovering the most trendy shops and restaurants, Le Marais is always worth a day, each and every time you come to Paris. In fact, the area is so astonishingly endowed that you can come back to exactly the same street time and time again. You are sure to notice some ornament of history for the first time, or some new shop selling a new form of artistic expression. If your trip to Paris had taken place in the 17th century, le Marais would have been a must. Henri IV and the aristocracy were all here, and their vestiges are still to been seen, not only at the Royal Square (today known as Place des Vosges) but in the magnificent town houses of old (hôtels particuliers). Their courtyards, as grand as those of many a palace, are full of pillars, arches, balconies and gardens.
