Chez Janou
The Place de Vosges is a marvel of architectural style, a magical stage on which people act out their day to day lives. Affordable dining is not so easy, though. We have had several disappointements with restaurants located under the arcades. The trick is to go "behind stage" just two minutes walk towards Chez Janou. Not only is the provence-style cuisine delicious, but it's also a charming spot to sit outside when the weather is nice. Very popular of course and impossible to find a table if you arrive late. Whether you like pastis or not, you will be astonished by the list of 80+ varieties of pastis (anis-based liqueur) offered, including (in)famous absinthe. Main dishes available between 10 and 15€.
