A few words from the host
Welcome to the sky in my nice pedestrian street confortable nest !
You will enjoy this east parisian arty, ecologic as well as popular neighborhood located between place de la Nation and Père Lachaise Cementery, with a farmers' market next door on thursdays and sundays (70 meters from the building) on Place de la Réunion.
My sunny and spacious appartment on the last floor of a 4 floors' white building is scattered with windows, facing east south and west : you will enjoy the sunrise right in your bed in your 12m2 furnished room, while the vast living room (25m2) and fully equipped kitchen (14m2) both receive light all day long and provide great sunsets views. There's plenty of space too in the bathroom to host a full bath, shower, washing machine and whashed hanger. WC have their own separate room.
Fully furnished with : a double bed in the bedroom, single bed and child mattresses in the living room (plus 2 additional single camping air beds provided upon request), nice desks in the bedroom as well as in the living room, three sofas, one armchair and plenty of cushion seats...
Fully equipped with : washing machine, dish-washer, 2 fridges and one separate freezer, raclette and fondue appareils, internet (Wifi), VOIP phone (free calls to US landlines and mobiles as well as to 30 other countries), cable TV, video CD player, video tape player, Hi-fi stereo player (radio, CD, tape) and even a vintage vinyl discs player.
My expat life in Central America and West Africa accounts for the flat being decorated with nice fabrics and handicrafts from these areas, as well as with contemporary art paintings, all of which irradiate a warm welcoming ambiance.
Belleville-Père Lachaise
This is not the Paris of ritz and glitz, but it is endearing in its own way. Whilst the Père-Lachaise is the dominant tourist attraction, this part of Paris contains a rich history of popular village life in places such as Belleville and Charonne. The rue des Pyrénées is a long, meandering, Acacia-lined street loved by true Parisians for its wealth of local merchants and authentic Parisian fare. Père-Lachaise is a most peculiar place, for the deceased and the living. Among the deceased, you will encounter Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, Honoré de Balzac, Delacroix, Apollinaire, Edith Piaf, Chopin (to name just a few, obviously). Among the living, you will cross paths with wandering poets, lovers, mothers walking their children, charming elderly folk, peolple with a fetish for statutes, and of course tourists from around the world. Who could imagine that when the cemetery was inaugurated, the Parisians had to be seduced in order to want to be buried there.
