A few words from the host

My cosy apartment is an ideal place to discover the young and vibrant districts of Bastille and République. The nearby rue Oberkampf is also well known for its restaurants and bars. Just a minute away from the metro M9, you will be 15 minutes away from the center of Paris, and within walking distance to the Marais.

Recommendations

We had a wonderful stay in Paris through Paris-Sharing. It was nice to have Carsten meet us at the train station, and help us settle in. The flat was perfect for us, and ideal given our budget. Our hostess, Naoielle, also left some good recommendations on places to eat and shop in the neighbourhood---this was very helpful on the first night since we arrived quite late! It was also great to have a fully stocked kitchen where we could cook sometimes (as eating out in Paris is quite expensive!).

I would recommend this site to people coming to visit Paris, especially if they will be staying for more than just a few days. Value for money was excellent!

Bastille

Ever since that momentus revolutionary destruction of a prison (even though there were only seven inmates at the time), the Bastille neighborhood has carried a naughty reputation. It subsequently became a hot spot for dance halls, brothels, and other unruly establishments. What remains today is an extraodinarly diverse and constantly changing neighborhood with all imaginable forms of commerce and culture.
