What we stand for

The world is a home we share. When we open our homes, the world opens to us. Your new neighbors are from other lands. Our "sharing" philosophy is to allow others to benefit from your home. Whether it be a primary home or a secondary home, we make this possible through secure vacation rentals, home exchanges, and guestrooms (bed & breakfasts).

It's all about authentic and unique places to stay, friendly people to welcome and assist you.
We are a communtity that opens your doors to a small world. Become a host, become a guest...share the experience !

Who we serve

No longer a tourist, you're an adventurer, an explorer, a cultural creative, a social networker, a one-of-a-kind human who likes to be treated that way. Your travel choices reflect who you are and what you value. ParisSharing is a travel partner for you, not for the masses.

Because we offer space in a city where it so rare, our value is exceptional for families and groups.

How we're different

Whether you're interested in self-catering rental, home exchange, or B&B, the following 3S summarize how we're different:

  • Simple. Online booking and seamless service. Prices are all-included, with free wireless internet and telephone. Flexible cancellation policy. Additional local services for your deluxe moments!
  • Secure. A trusted third party for all reservations, we're committed to insuring your satisfaction throughout your stay.
  • Social. Don't be a stranger, you're a member! You'll meet the owners or welcome crew who will be taking care of you. Learn from locals about eateries and places to visit. Share your own experience.

And if we could add a 4th S, it would be SENSATIONAL. We'll let you be the judge of that.

Our Story

Carsten Sprotte founded Paris-Sharing.com in 2010. Ever since he decided to leave his home country, the USA, to live in France in the 1990s, Carsten had dreamed of bringing people and cultures closer together to make for a more harmonious world. "If people could better experience how others live and why they live that way, so many fundamental misunderstandings could be cleared up and we'd all be better off."

In 2008, as he was planning a trip back to the USA, it occurred to him that his own Paris apartment would be a great base for discovering the cosmopolitan and increasingly trendy east-side of the city. He figured he could rent it out at a very affordable price, and help offset the cost of his trip.

But there were three problems. First, he couldn't find any agency willing to waste time on him for a two week rental period. Second, he wouldn't be there to welcome his guests and didn't want to bother friends and neighbors with such matters. Third, who would take care of the cat?

While setting out to solve these problems, he realized he was not alone. There were thousands of Parisians who had the same problem, and millions of travelers who would love to live like a local in a real home, instead of a hotel or a standard furnished vacation apartment. He further discovered that there were hundreds of Parisians interested in welcoming tourists in a guestroom or B&B, and thousands of travelers who would prefer that format. Finally, he observed that many of these same people, Parisians or travelers, were also open to exchanging their homes.

"Let's build a website and provide a service to meet all those very similar needs", he decided. This is the first chapter, called Paris Sharing, in a story called Planet Sharing, where we are "always at home in the world".
